Coverage and dataset
This page counts what the archive contains and where each record comes from. The numbers describe short OEM code labels, model-year records, published tables, and manual citations. They are not an estimate of every code a machine can store.
What the dataset contains
The current build publishes 17,105 model-code entries from 141 model-year records. Repeated rows on shared OEM tables collapse to 3,646 unique table rows. Those rows sit on 35 published code pages: 18 canonical shared tables and 17 unique model or module tables. 136 manual/document records supply the citations, covering 132 printed manual P/Ns and 4 Segway module records that cite document U09L01000002. The Honda CRF MIL-blink index is a separate dataset and is not included in these totals.
Each entry names a short label printed by an OEM manual, the model year and model that use the table, and the table row where the label appears. The site does not add repair procedures, diagnostic steps, parts advice, safety determinations, or operating advice. The archive is a source index for the labels, not a service manual.
- 141 model-year records
- 17,105 model-code entries
- 3,646 unique table rows
- 35 code pages
- 136 manual/document records
- 3 brands in this dataset
The difference between entries and unique rows is the point of the table model. A shared OEM table can be used by dozens of model-year records, but it is published once. The entry count measures how many model-code pairs the archive resolves; the unique-row count measures how much distinct table data the archive publishes.
Coverage by brand
Polaris supplies most of the archive because its owner-manual archive publishes diagnostic chapters for many model years and table families. Arctic Cat contributes a smaller set of C/P/U tables, and Segway contributes four module tables from one 2022 document. The table shows records, entries, unique rows, distinct table fingerprints, and manual/document records for the SPN/FMI and manufacturer-code dataset. Honda’s separate MIL-blink index is described below and is not included in these counts.
| Brand | Model-year records | Entries | Unique rows | Table fingerprints | Manual records |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Polaris | 123 | 16,043 | 3,313 | 28 | 125 |
| Arctic Cat | 14 | 933 | 204 | 3 | 7 |
| Segway | 4 | 129 | 129 | 4 | 4 |
The Polaris share is 123 of 141 model-year records and 16,043 of 17,105 entries. Arctic Cat contributes 14 records and 933 entries. Segway contributes 4 records and 129 entries. Those proportions describe the current source set, not the size of each brand's model line.
Honda CRF MIL-blink index
The Honda CRF page is a separate, consolidated dataset. It is not part of the 17,105 model-code entries above because Honda’s competition CRF owner’s manuals print a DTC Index keyed by MIL blink count rather than SPN/FMI pairs or P-codes. The page covers 7 owner’s manuals from 2010–2020, 50 printed rows, and 9 distinct blink codes. It is built from the OEM PDFs and is not included in the brand, year, or FMI counts on this page.
- 7 Honda CRF editions
- 50 printed MIL-blink rows
- 9 distinct blink codes
- 7 OEM manual citations
Coverage by model year
The archive spans model years 2020 through 2027. Coverage is not even: 2023 and 2022 carry the most records, while 2020 and 2021 carry fewer because the source set has fewer owner-accessible diagnostic chapters for those years. The counts below are model-year records, not unique models; one model name can appear in several years with a different table.
| Model year | Records | Entries |
|---|---|---|
| 2020 | 1 | 207 |
| 2021 | 2 | 367 |
| 2022 | 26 | 2,488 |
| 2023 | 28 | 3,846 |
| 2024 | 18 | 2,276 |
| 2025 | 19 | 2,663 |
| 2026 | 25 | 3,098 |
| 2027 | 22 | 2,160 |
Model-year deltas are visible in the table data. A code can keep the same label across years, change labels, move to a different table, or disappear when a manual revises its chapter. The archive records the table that each manual prints rather than assuming that a later year inherits an earlier table. The model-year changes reference groups exact model names by year and marks the transitions where the row fingerprint changes.
How the tables are shaped
The archive does not treat every code as an SPN/FMI pair. Some manuals print SPN and FMI columns; some print P-codes; some print manufacturer C/P/U codes; some print module-specific E, T, A, or P/U codes. The table below groups model-year records by the format named in the source. The entry count is the number of model-code pairs in that group.
| Source format | Records | Entries |
|---|---|---|
| SPN / FMI | 86 | 12,152 |
| SPN / FMI + P-code | 13 | 2,151 |
| P-code + SPN / FMI | 20 | 1,578 |
| C/P/U DTC | 7 | 730 |
| C/P/U DTC (EPS module) | 7 | 203 |
| P-code (with SPN/FMI cross-reference) | 2 | 134 |
| P/U codes with FMI value (ECU) | 1 | 91 |
| E-codes (EPS module) | 1 | 24 |
| P-code DTC (E-VES module) | 1 | 16 |
| C-code + SPN / FMI | 1 | 12 |
| A-codes (ABS module) | 1 | 8 |
| T-codes (T-BOX module) | 1 | 6 |
The largest group is SPN / FMI with 86 records and 12,152 entries. The format matters because the same printed code can appear in more than one table family, and a lookup that assumes one format can miss a record that uses another. The decoder supports SPN/FMI, SPN-only, and P-code lookups across the published set.
FMI values in the dataset
SPN/FMI rows carry a failure mode indicator. The standard range is 0–31; the archive also records 36 and 37 when a manual prints them. The table counts entries by FMI value across the published dataset. A row without an FMI value is not included.
| FMI | Entries | Note |
|---|---|---|
0 | 629 | |
1 | 246 | |
2 | 1,427 | |
3 | 3,357 | |

36 | 15 | Printed outside the standard 0–31 range. |
37 | 16 | Printed outside the standard 0–31 range. |
FMI 3 is the most common value with 3,357 entries, followed by FMI 4 with 3,256. FMI 31 is the condition-exists / not-available value and appears 1,719 times. FMI 36 and 37 are outside the standard range and appear 15 and 16 times; they are kept because the source prints them, not because the archive treats them as standard. The FMI reference adds the common meaning, distinct-SPN counts, and a representative entry for every observed value.
Label variance and quality checks
An OEM table can print more than one label for the same code key, especially when a manual carries a short title and a longer description. The archive keeps the printed labels together under one key instead of choosing one as canonical. 378 of 1,192 keys carry more than one label in the current build.
| Check | Result |
|---|---|
| Code keys in the index | 1,192 |
| Keys with more than one printed label | 378 |
| Tier A / B / C / D | 211 / 365 / 258 / 358 |
| Source records without a source URL | 0 |
| Duplicate row keys | 0 |
| Printed values outside the standard FMI range | 36, 37 |
| Printed-quirk notes | 3 |
The quality pass also records 3 printed-quirk notes, 0 source records without a source URL, and 0 duplicate row keys. Multi-label keys are not errors; they are the reason a code page can show a short label and a longer manual title without pretending one is the only wording. The label-variance reference lists every multi-label key and all of its printed descriptions; the code index lists the full key set.
Coverage by family and system
The counts above describe the archive as a whole. The family and system hubs divide the same records another way: families keep model-year and manual context together, while systems follow a component or module across brands and table generations. The memberships overlap by design, so the hub counts do not add up to the archive totals.
Polaris family hubs
System hubs
The family hub directory and system hub directory list the same routes with the model and key counts. Use the code index when only a key is known, or the decoder when an SPN/FMI pair is already in hand.
What the dataset does not cover
Coverage is limited by what an owner-accessible OEM document publishes. The current blocked list has 19 brands, including Yamaha, CFMOTO, Kawasaki, Can-Am, Suzuki, Kymco, Massimo, Tracker / Textron, Bobcat, Kubota, John Deere, Cub Cadet, and 7 more. A missing brand is a source gap, not a statement that the machine has no codes.
The negative findings are also part of the record: the 2026 Alterra 450 and 2026 ARGO Aurora 800 manuals contain no owner-facing DTC table in the text layer, and the 2024 Alterra 600 direct PDF URL returned 404. Those models are not inferred from adjacent years. The archive also excludes repair procedures, diagnostic tests, parts advice, safety determinations, and operating advice by policy.
- 2026 Alterra 450 — No diagnostic trouble code table found in the text layer; no page added. Source
- 2026 ARGO Aurora 800 — No diagnostic trouble code table found in the text layer; no page added. Source
- 2024 Alterra 600 — Official PDF URL returns 404; 2024 remains unconfirmed and is not chased. Source
The manual source index lists every source record and its code page. The methodology page explains extraction, normalization, and the correction process.
How to cite this dataset
Cite the page URL and the dataset date shown at the bottom of this page. For a specific table, cite the code page and the manual P/N or document code in its source box. If a label does not match the cited manual, use the corrections page and include the model year, code, printed label, and source page.
The dataset date is a build date, not a claim that every source was re-checked on that date. Individual source dates appear in the manual source index.
