Ranger 1000 / Crew 1000 fault codes (2023–2027)

The 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026, and 2027 Ranger 1000 / Crew 1000 manuals publish the same 78-entry diagnostic table. This page lists it once, with the manual citation for each year and the systems that matter on a utility machine.

78 OEM-listed entries 5 manual P/Ns Chapter 0000871758

Scope note

This page covers the shared 78-entry table (OEM chapter 0000871758) published in the 2023–2027 Ranger 1000 / Crew 1000 manuals.

The 2022 Ranger 1000 uses a different 83-entry table. It is covered on the shared 83-code page, not here. Do not use a 2022 code on a 2023–2026 machine without checking the manual.

The table covers engine temperature, idle air control, AWD, Active Descent, fan, fuel pump, and encoder circuits. Trim and running changes can add or remove features.

Table profile

This page reproduces 78 entries from 5 model-year records (2023–2027), 5 manual P/Ns, and chapter 0000871758.

Rows keep the manual’s printed order, from SPN 520203 / FMI 3 to SPN 84 / FMI 8.

Every row carries an SPN/FMI pair; 33 distinct SPNs and 15 FMI values appear.

The largest FMI groups are FMI 3 (19 rows), FMI 4 (17 rows), and FMI 5 (9 rows); together they account for 58% of the table.

The most repeated SPN is 84 with 5 rows, followed by SPN 110 with 4 rows.

Every printed SPN/FMI pair carries one title in this table.

These counts describe the rows on this page, not every manual in the archive. The source box below lists the exact citation for every record on the page.

One table, five Ranger 1000 years

The 2023–2027 Ranger 1000 and Crew 1000 manuals use the same diagnostic chapter. The SPN, FMI, component, and failure labels match entry-for-entry. This page publishes the table once and keeps a year anchor for each manual.

The old 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026 URLs redirect to those anchors. The 2027 manual uses the same table and has its own year anchor and P/N citation.

What the 78 entries cover

The table covers engine temperature (SPN 110), idle air control (SPN 634), AWD control (SPN 520207), Active Descent control, fan relay driver, fuel pump driver, gear position, and encoder circuits. Most rows are circuit faults: shorted high, shorted low, open, or grounded.

Utility machines operate in mud, dust, and water, and the manual definitions include the circuits that are exposed to those conditions. A low-voltage event can also set several unrelated entries at once. The table records the labels; it does not identify a failed component.

Why the 2022 Ranger 1000 is different

The 2022 Ranger 1000 manual publishes an 83-entry table, not this 78-entry table. The 2022 table is shared with the Sportsman 850 / XP 1000 and several other machines and is covered on the shared 83-code page. The 2022 page carries the 2022 P/N.

How to use this page

Record the SPN and FMI, find the row in the table or the decoder, and note the manual P/N for your model year. The entry is a label from the OEM chapter. This page does not include service procedures for AWD, Active Descent, or internal engine systems.

What the 78 entries do not tell you

A code names a circuit or a condition; it does not name a guaranteed failed part. The same AWD entry can appear with a switch, a connector, a harness run, or a controller ground. The table gives the circuit label, not a parts list.

Ranger 1000s operate in mud, dust, and water, and the table includes circuits exposed to those conditions. A low or disconnected battery can set several codes at once, and the controller record may change after a battery event.

This page is a code reference, not a service procedure. It does not include differential, transmission, or engine disassembly. Those systems require the OEM service manual and the appropriate tools.

Which manuals use this table

The table is shared; the manual citation is not. Use the P/N for your exact model year.

Model and year notes

These notes explain which systems matter on each machine. They do not add rows to the OEM table.

Ranger 1000 / Crew 1000 (2023–2027)

All five model years publish this 78-entry table. The table is identical; the manual P/N and model-year citation are not. Use the anchor for your year and confirm the code against the manual for your VIN and trim.

What the FMI number means

Every entry pairs an SPN with an FMI. The FMI is the failure type; the SPN is the circuit or component.

FMI = failure mode identifier. The same FMI means the same type of failure across sensors.
FMIWhat it generally means
0Data valid, but above the normal operating range (most severe)
1Data valid, but below the normal operating range (most severe)
2Data erratic, intermittent, or incorrect
3Voltage above normal, or shorted to a high source
4Voltage below normal, or shorted to a low source
5Current below normal, or open circuit
6Current above normal, or grounded circuit
7Mechanical system not responding or out of adjustment
8Abnormal frequency, pulse width, or period
9Abnormal update rate
10Abnormal rate of change
11Root cause not known
12Bad intelligent device or component
13Out of calibration
16Data valid, but above the normal operating range (moderately severe)
19Received network data in error
31Condition exists (manufacturer-specific)

Reading the table

The code column gives the identifier the controller publishes: an SPN/FMI pair or a P-code. The label column gives the short condition or component/failure text from the cited OEM chapter.

A label identifies a monitored circuit or condition. It does not confirm that a named part has failed, and it does not establish whether the machine is safe to operate.

Write down the full code, the model year and model, and the conditions when it appears. That record is what the manual and a service provider use to match the entry to your machine.

Source note

This page publishes short component and condition labels from the public OEM manual chapter, not the manual's long-form repair prose. The source list below opens the exact chapter for every manual in the group.

Scope

This is a label index. It does not provide repair procedures, parts advice, or a diagnosis for a specific machine. Codes can vary by trim, market, and running changes.

Common questions

What does this Ranger 1000 / Crew 1000 table cover?

This page lists 78 code entries from the cited public OEM chapter (0000871758, 5 manual P/Ns). The table preserves the short condition or component/failure labels published in that chapter.

Where can I check the source?

The source box at the bottom of the page gives the manual P/N, the model-year coverage, and a link to the OEM chapter. The methodology page explains the site’s source and labeling rules.
