Sportsman / Scrambler XP 1000 S fault codes (2024–2027)

The 2024–2026 combined Sportsman / Scrambler XP 1000 S manuals and the 2026–2027 Sportsman XP 1000 S 2-Up manuals publish the same 179-entry diagnostic table. This page lists it once, with the manual citation for each model and the differences between the combined and standalone manuals.

179 OEM-listed entries 5 manual P/Ns Chapter 0000902823

Scope note

This page covers the shared 179-entry table (OEM chapter 0000902823) used by the 2024–2026 combined Sportsman / Scrambler XP 1000 S manuals and the 2026–2027 Sportsman XP 1000 S 2-Up manuals.

The 2023 Sportsman / Scrambler XP 1000 S table is different and has its own page. The 2025 standalone Scrambler XP 1000 S manual (P/N 9941703) uses the shared 83-entry table, not this one.

Some rows name circuits or features that are not fitted to every trim. Use the code your display shows; this page does not provide repair procedures.

Table profile

This page reproduces 179 entries from 5 model-year records (2024–2027), 5 manual P/Ns, and chapter 0000902823.

Rows keep the manual’s printed order, from SPN 29 / FMI 3 to SPN 516247 / FMI 4.

Every row carries an SPN/FMI pair; 96 distinct SPNs and 21 FMI values appear.

The largest FMI groups are FMI 4 (36 rows), FMI 3 (35 rows), and FMI 31 (35 rows); together they account for 59% of the table.

The most repeated SPN is 110 (Engine Coolant Temperature) with 8 rows, followed by SPN 96 with 5 rows.

Every printed SPN/FMI pair carries one title in this table.

These counts describe the rows on this page, not every manual in the archive. The source box below lists the exact citation for every record on the page.

One table, five combined-manual records

The 2024, 2025, and 2026 combined Sportsman / Scrambler XP 1000 S manuals use diagnostic chapter 0000902823. The 2026 and 2027 Sportsman XP 1000 S 2-Up manuals publish the same table. The rows are identical entry-for-entry; the manual P/N and model-year citation are not.

This page publishes the table once and keeps an anchor for each model and year. The model-year URLs redirect to those anchors.

What the 179 entries cover

The table includes accelerator position and synchronization, AWD, battery and charging voltage, brake switches, engine temperature, fuel correction, idle air control, ignition and injector drivers, EPS, fan and chassis relays, gear position, and vehicle speed.

Most rows are SPN/FMI pairs. A code names a monitored circuit or condition; it does not confirm that a named part has failed. The FMI glossary below explains the numeric suffix.

Why the 2023 and standalone 2025 tables differ

Polaris published a different, larger table for the 2023 Sportsman / Scrambler XP 1000 S, and the standalone 2025 Scrambler XP 1000 S manual uses the shared 83-entry table instead of this 179-entry table. These are separate OEM chapters, not formatting variants of one table.

Use the page that matches the manual P/N for your machine. Do not assume that a code from one XP 1000 S table has the same row in another.

How to use this page

Record the exact code, choose the anchor for your model and year, and use the full table or the decoder. Note the manual P/N so the citation matches. The entry is a label from the OEM chapter, not a diagnosis for a specific vehicle.

Which manuals use this table

The table is shared; the manual citation is not. Use the P/N for your exact model year.

Model and year notes

These notes explain which systems matter on each machine. They do not add rows to the OEM table.

Sportsman / Scrambler XP 1000 S (2024–2026)

The 2024, 2025, and 2026 combined manuals publish this 179-entry table. The 2024 and 2025 editions cover both the Sportsman and Scrambler XP 1000 S; the 2026 edition continues the same table. The manual P/N and model-year citation differ.

Sportsman XP 1000 S 2-Up (2026–2027)

The 2026 and 2027 Sportsman XP 1000 S 2-Up manuals publish the same 179-entry table. The 2-Up body style and trim differ from the single-seat models, but the diagnostic rows in this chapter are shared. Use the P/N for your model year.

What the FMI number means

Every entry pairs an SPN with an FMI. The FMI is the failure type; the SPN is the circuit or component.

FMI = failure mode identifier. The same FMI means the same type of failure across sensors.
FMIWhat it generally means
0Data valid, but above the normal operating range (most severe)
1Data valid, but below the normal operating range (most severe)
2Data erratic, intermittent, or incorrect
3Voltage above normal, or shorted to a high source
4Voltage below normal, or shorted to a low source
5Current below normal, or open circuit
6Current above normal, or grounded circuit
7Mechanical system not responding or out of adjustment
8Abnormal frequency, pulse width, or period
9Abnormal update rate
10Abnormal rate of change
11Root cause not known
12Bad intelligent device or component
13Out of calibration
16Data valid, but above the normal operating range (moderately severe)
19Received network data in error
31Condition exists (manufacturer-specific)

Reading the table

The code column gives the identifier the controller publishes: an SPN/FMI pair or a P-code. The label column gives the short condition or component/failure text from the cited OEM chapter.

A label identifies a monitored circuit or condition. It does not confirm that a named part has failed, and it does not establish whether the machine is safe to operate.

Write down the full code, the model year and model, and the conditions when it appears. That record is what the manual and a service provider use to match the entry to your machine.

Source note

This page publishes short component and condition labels from the public OEM manual chapter, not the manual's long-form repair prose. The source list below opens the exact chapter for every manual in the group.

Scope

This is a label index. It does not provide repair procedures, parts advice, or a diagnosis for a specific machine. Codes can vary by trim, market, and running changes.

Common questions

What does this Sportsman / Scrambler XP 1000 S table cover?

This page lists 179 code entries from the cited public OEM chapter (0000902823, 5 manual P/Ns). The table preserves the short condition or component/failure labels published in that chapter.

Where can I check the source?

The source box at the bottom of the page gives the manual P/N, the model-year coverage, and a link to the OEM chapter. The methodology page explains the site’s source and labeling rules.
